The ski season that never really was is creeping closer to its early finish.
Breckenridge opened for a bonus closing day on Saturday, April 25, giving skiers and riders one last lap on Peak 8 with live music, free hot dogs and the terrain park. The rest of the mountain shut down a week earlier.

Loveland closed for the season on Sunday, April 26, with music, barbecue and more terrain than you might expect after just 173 inches this season. That is barely half of Loveland’s total from last season, and yet it was still the most snow on the I-70 mountain corridor this season – unless Copper picks up a half foot of snow before closing day on May 3.
I-70 through Summit was quiet this weekend, April 24-26, with 88,385 vehicles in three days at the Eisenhower-Johnson tunnels. Traffic was noticeably busier than the previous weekend (up 5.8%) and considerably slower than the same time last year (down 12.6%).
Traffic on Friday, April 24 rebounded big from the previous week, when eastbound and westbound traffic trickled to their lowest levels since a snowstorm in early December.
This was a fourth consecutive week with fewer than 100,000 vehicles, the longest stretch since the autumn of 2020.
