The Motet plays Main Street, Karl Denson plays the marina in Frisco this summer

Summer is already heating up in Frisco with live music playing most weeks from June through August.

It all kicks off with Rock the Dock at Frisco Bay Marina on Friday, June 19 with a pair of co-headliners. First up is HeartByrne, a Talking Heads tribute band out of Austin, Texas. Closing the night is Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. Did we mention both acts are free?

You’ll want to stick around all day (and all summer) for kayaking and paddleboarding on Lake Dillon, which, despite a dismally dry winter, will still have enough water to keep Frisco Bay Marina open for paddlesports.

Music continues the following Thursday with the first of 10 free shows at Frisco Historic Park for the annual Concerts in the Park series. Playing the season opener on Thursday, June 25 is Colorado blues act Earl Nelson & the Company. Regional touring acts like Williams Brothers Band (July 23) rotate with local bands like High Five (Aug. 20) and Bonfire Dub (Aug. 27). Find the full schedule online.

Frisco’s biggest musical event of the summer is a free concert with Colorado funk favorites, The Motet, playing Main Street on Fourth of July. The afternoon show wraps a full day of patriotic revelry with the annual kids’ fishing tournament in the morning and downtown parade around midday.

Across the lake at Dillon Amphitheater, summer keeps on rocking with free concerts on Mondays and a whole lot of ticketed shows until closing day in September.
