A snowboarder fell more than forty feet from the Ruby Express chairlift in Keystone yesterday.
Summit County Sheriff’s Office confirms the 32-year-old man was airlifted with serious to life-threatening injuries.
The victim’s condition is unknown this morning. He was alive when Flight For Life rushed him to St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.
Witnesses tell authorities it was likely an accident.
The incident is now under investigation by the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board. The board investigates all chairlifts falls and malfunctions.
On the Krystal 93 morning show today sheriff Jaime FitzSimons gave listeners a safety reminder.
“Pull down the guard, the safety bar,” FitzSimons said. “Ski within the code.”
FitzSimons continued, “It’s a stark reminder to follow safety precautions put in place on the mountains. Ski safely and play safely.”
