Summit rallies for injured football player, raising $2400 in 12 hours

A Summit County 8th grader was severely injured yesterday, Sept. 18, playing a club football game in Eagle.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Ignacio Villarreal broke his leg. He was rushed to Vail Health for emergency surgery.

“Ignacio is a bright, kind, and hardworking young man who loves sports and being part of his team,” the GoFundMe reads. “Unfortunately, his road to recovery will be long and difficult.”

In less than a day, supporters have raised more than $2400 for Ignacio’s treatment and recovery. An update from this morning says he is recovering at the Vail hospital, now with an orthopedic rod and multiple screws in his leg.
