You’re never too young to run for fun.
Returning to the trails at Frisco Peninsula today, July 1, is the free Mountain Goat Kids’ trail running series.
The bi-monthly series is made for young runners (up to 13 years old) with distances from a half-mile to just over three miles. Racers leave the Frisco Nordic Center start line at 5:45 p.m. and finish back where they started.
“This series is really about embracing summer on the Frisco Peninsula’s beautiful trails and encouraging kids to celebrate their accomplishments by running and finishing what might be their first trail race” Frisco’s Linsey Joyce said in a statement. “We make sure there are lots of marshals on the course, encouraging kids and allowing them to safely run a race on their own, but parents are invited to run for free with their kids, if they would like. It’s a great evening for families.”
The series celebrates nine years in Frisco this summer – and it is just getting started! Bring the whole family to Race 3 on July 15 and again for the series finale on July 29.
Racing is free but registration is required. Every young runner who registers goes home with a finisher medal, gift and snacks.
