The Warmup: A faster, fiercer Lady Tigers lacrosse team

Today on THE WARMUP we’re talking to senior co-captains on the Lady Tigers lacrosse team.

“We’re all excited to be here,” Ella Rader says. “We all are working hard when we are here, and we’re taking advantage of coming to practice. We want to win games.”

Krystal 93 met up with Rader and co-captain Chloe Nicholds just one day after winning a shootout with Eagle Valley, 23 to 19.

“Even though we felt that we were winning the game, I think that didn’t let us slow down,” Rader says. “We kept pushing through and wanting it the whole game.”

This Lady Tigers team feels different than past years. The girls have two wins already over Eagle Valley and a .500 record in the league.

“In the past we had a different mentality of like, ‘Oh, we’re Summit, we’ll just lose,’” Nicholds says. She has played lacrosse in Summit for 12 years, but this year – her senior year – is shaping up to be the best one yet.

“This year is much different because we are definitely ready to win,” Nicholds says. “And everyone wants to win this year. We Summit girls? We are fast, man. And just as long as you got those stick skills, you can do anything.”
