What is the nation’s best ski town? USA Today wants you to decide

Ski towns are bigger than skiing these days.

Just look at the 20 candidates on USA Today’s “10 Best” ballot for ski towns. Dining, clubs, museums and lodging are mentioned long before powder stashes and steeps. Park City has the Waldorf Astoria. Truckee, California has Lake Tahoe. Downtown Breckenridge is a national historic district (170+ buildings on the national register of historic places!) and Vail serves fondue in faux-Euro lodges.

But… if we were voting on what state has the most ski towns, Colorado would easily take the win. On the 10 Best ballot are six Colorado ski towns, the most of any state, and all six of them are classics – Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen, Telluride, Winter Park and Steamboat Springs.

Also on the ballot are a few dark-horse destinations, like Red River in New Mexico and North Conway in New Hampshire, the gateway to Cranmore Mountain Resort.

You already know what town is going on our ballot. Cast your vote today. Voting closes Nov. 19.
